Who We Are

Having had two children that attended and graduated from WMU here in Kalamazoo, I was always looking for ways to stay connected to them, without being too intrusive. I started sending them monthly boxes that I personally curated from local businesses in Kalamazoo and they loved it!

They knew I was thinking about them and it always initiated a contact from them and opened up a new topic of conversation for us. I was able to connect with my children on another level as we talked about the items in their monthly box and about the local business it came from. It also introduced my children to all the wonderful, local businesses that Kalamazoo has to offer.

After my boys graduated and moved away from Kalamazoo, I realized that there were many other students who attend WMU from other cities and states that aren’t familiar with the area and what we have to offer. I also realized that their parents were not familiar with our area, either. I paired my love for my city with the desire to help parents stay connected to their college student, and Deliver Local To My Kid.com was born!

We also help local parents stay connected to their students who attend college in other areas, as well. We ship a “taste of home” to many students who were born and raised in the Kalamazoo area. Our students that receive a monthly box full of goodies that have that “Made in Kalamazoo” label feel a sense of comfort and security.

We curate items from the best local businesses in the area each month. We aren’t sending a bottle of soda and a bag of chips like other Subscription Boxes out there.

We deliver and ship boxes once per month, on the second Tuesday, to any college campus. We currently hand deliver to students attending Western Michigan University, Michigan State University and Kalamazoo College. We hope to expand into Grand Valley State University in the near future.
